It's been a few days since Beef Week 2017 ended and I was fortunate enough to be able to go to the CBD area of Casino last Saturday, the 27th of May 2017, to look at the exciting events scheduled on that day. (For a listing of the activities that happened, please click on my previous post HERE).
I'll give a short rundown of the things the wife and I went to, with the pictures I am posting below....
The first thing we see, upon entering Canterbury Street is the "Street Festival and Markets" featuring various rides and booths that sell all kinds of stuff - toys, crafts, food and much more.
We passed by the regular annual displays, such as the "Show-N-Shine Car Show (sorry, no photos this year ... for last year's autos on display, click HERE ) , and the Quota "Dot Robson" Craft Market at the Casino Civic Hall.
We also had a glimpse of the awarding ceremonies of the "Whip Cracking Competition" - Juniors Category.
Along Walker St., the highlight of Casino Beef Week was on display. The whole stretch was filled with cattle, and, at the very end of the street, is where the Cattle Competitions were held.
The Wife had a fun time petting one of the "cattle".
With the Beef Week theme of "Back In Time", I spotted a lovely couple strolling down the street in period attire.
The roundabout at the corner of Walker St. and Barker St. was transformed overnight into a show area where the Cattle Competition and Auction of LED Steers were held.
The wife and I then proceeded to look at some exhibits, the first one was the Art Exhibition at the Casino Cultural and Community Centre. They featured wonderful paintings and photographs, most of which were for sale to the visiting art collector. (Sorry no photos except for the programme brochure below).
We then proceeded to the Casino Folk Museum to look at the wonderful historical items on display...
We then decided to have a bite at one of the booths... a couple selling German Bratwurst and Bockwurst sausages.
Unfortunately, we had to be someplace else that afternoon and missed the Street Parade right after noontime.
For those who haven't been to any of the Casino Beef Week annual celebrations, I am reposting again (same as the one above) the link of last year's photos HERE which shows what the parade would've looked like.
Thanks for dropping by HELLO NORTHERN RIVERS, and see you soon.
