Casino officially opens it’s Beef Week 2016 celebrations today, the 21st of May. The festivities, held annually at Casino NSW, Australia 2470, recognised as Australia’ Beef Capital, starts with the official Opening Night at the Casino RSM Club, 6:00 pm.
Beef Week 2016 will run for ten days up to the 31st of May and offers a rich variety of fun activities and entertainment.
Make sure to check out the schedule posted below (courtesy of the Casino Beef Week Promotions Committee Inc., the Richmond Valley Council and the participating sponsors) for the usual favourites like the “Cow Pat Lotto” and “Beef Week Queen Crowning and Mr. Beef Competition”, as well as new stuff like “The Ultimate Strength & Conditioning Beef Week Fitness Challenge”.

The organizer’s website –http://www.casinobeefweek.com.au/ – describes the ten day celebration as …. “ The fabulous community focused event known as Casino Beef Week commenced in 1982 following a public meeting held to discuss options for an annual festival.
The then mayor of Casino, Gerry Kelly, invited former Casino resident and business consultant Michael Zann to assist the community in developing an idea to promote the town and region. When Mr Zann was told that the local economy was largely dependent on the beef industry, he suggested that beef be the focus of a festival… The rest, as they say is history.
The first festival was small but introduced the concept that has made Casino Beef Week unique – cattle in the main street.”
